An evening hosted by distillery representative Graeme MacKay, who will guide us through the workings of the distillery nestled under the Ardnamurchan Lighthouse on the most westerly point of the British mainland.
The award-winning collection of single malt whiskies is crafted from spirits maturing in the company’s warehouses. To provide the blending team with the flexibility needed to create diverse whiskies, they produce two types of spirit: peated and unpeated malt spirit. The peated malt is infused with phenols at 30PPM, imparting a subtle smokiness to the whisky. Additionally, they have distilled some heavily peated malt at 80PPM, which is still aging in cask until it reaches the desired maturity.
The company predominantly matures its whisky using a traditional combination of American and European oak, ex-sherry casks, and American oak ex-bourbon casks. However, they also enjoy experimenting with other types of oak casks that…
