About the event
We are delighted to be abel to welcome RJ Botha to Ripponden Wine Co. RJ was always intrigued by the science of
winemaking and thus studied for a BSc in Viticulture and Oenology at the University of Stellenbosch. He started his winemaking career at Nitida Cellars in Durbanville where he won the much-coveted Diner’s Club Young Winemaker of the Year in 2010. He joined Kleine Zalze in 2012 and was promoted to Cellarmaster in 2021, overseeing the vineyard
and winemaking teams and bringing his unique approach to the Kleine Zalze wines.
Discernibly South African in style, the wines are refreshing, beautifully balanced and well suited to food. They are made according to traditional methods, with minimal cellar intervention but supported by modern winemaking equipment. This promises to be a fascinating evening.
